January is healthy eating month, so I’m bringing you a super easy, creamy balsamic dressing recipe to use for all your salads! But even though this dressing perfectly low carb, it’s also so versatile that the whole family will enjoy it. No matter how you like to eat, there’s room for this creamy balsamic vinaigrette on your table.

What Is Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette?

Any basic vinaigrette is comprised of oil and something acidic, like vinegar or lemon juice. Creamy balsamic vinaigrette is just an extension of that, using balsamic vinegar and adding some heavy cream – to make it creamy, of course! It’s a very versatile dressing that is easy to make and works for many types of salads. If you’re looking for a more herby dressing that still has the creamy element, try green goddess dressing instead.

How To Make Creamy Balsamic Dressing

Making the best creamy balsamic vinaigrette literally takes 5 minutes! All you need is a few common pantry ingredients (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, sea salt and black pepper), and some heavy cream.

To make it, combine all the ingredients in a Whiskware Dressing Shaker. Shake until it’s smooth and emulsified. Super easy, and virtually nothing to clean (just measuring spoons)!

You can also use a bowl and whisk if you prefer, but the Dressing Shaker is super convenient, easy to store, and requires less cleanup. You can place it on the table for a family meal, so each person can decide how much dressing they want, and use the same container for storing any leftovers.

I really like that it comes in a glass version, though you can get a plastic one too, which is more cost effective. (I have both – the plastic one is shown in the pictures.)

Once you know how to make creamy balsamic dressing, you can try these variations:

  • Make it dairy-free by using coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
  • Make a more mild vinaigrette by using apple cider vinegar instead of balsamic.
  • Add some dried herbs, such as parsley or basil.

Ways To Use This Creamy Balsamic Dressing Recipe

Of course, the most common way to use this creamy balsamic dressing recipe is over a salad! I usually like it over a basic salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and sometimes feta cheese.

But did you know that creamy balsamic vinaigrette can also work well in low carb casseroles or drizzled over low carb appetizers? As long as the flavors mesh well, it works!

How To Store Creamy Balsamic Dressing

Creamy balsamic vinaigrette stores well in the fridge. It lasts about as long as your heavy cream would have on its own, about a week. It might be a little longer because of the balsamic vinegar in there.

You may need to shake the dressing again if it separates during storage. No big deal!

But the best part? You can store this creamy balsamic dressing right in the Whiskware Dressing Shaker! So, you can prepare it, store it and pour it all from one container.
