Homemade smoothies are a delicious way to get a nourishing boost of energy in the mornings or on-the-go. For this matcha green tea smoothie recipe, I used different types of ingredients that offer a rich source of nutrients, such as protein, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and fiber. Enjoy this smoothie as an energizing breakfast or afternoon pick-me-up. It only takes a few minutes to prepare this nutritious beverage in your blender. For an irresistible frozen treat, pour the mixture into popsicle molds and set them in the freezer. In a few hours, you’llhave refreshing ice pops that are perfect for the hot weather!

Matcha green tea powder contains extremely high antioxidant levels thatexceed those of other green teas. Matcha is one of the most superior grades of tea in the world. It tends to be more expensive than other varieties of green tea because it is grown in limited quantities in Japan, whereproducersfollow a meticulousprocedure to ensure the leaves retain their rich concentration of nutrients. Great care is taken to grow the tea leavesin the shade and protect them from sunlightprior to harvest. Only the youngest, most tender leaves are used for matcha, at which point they are air-dried and ground into a fine powder.

Abundant in antioxidants, matcha green tea prevents oxidative damage caused by free radicals and protects against disease. Matcha green tea powder has a natural energizing effect and can boost metabolism, improve concentration, and ward off stress. It is extremely rich in chlorophyll which not only gives matcha its signature green color, but also acts as a powerful detoxifying agent to rid the body of toxins and heavy metals. It also provides fiber, amino acids, and immune-boosting vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium. Matcha green tea powder is truly an antioxidant and nutrition powerhouse.

Other health benefits of this smoothie come from flaxseed meal, which is rich in both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber helps to regulate blood sugar levels and reduce LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels, while insoluble fiber supports a healthy digestive system. The hemp protein powder in this smoothie makes it a great source of protein. It also provides a nearly perfect balance of essential amino acids and fatty acids. Almond flour adds an additional source of protein, fiber, and heart-healthy monounsaturated fat.

Dried mulberries are another antioxidant-packed ingredient in this smoothie. Extremely high in calcium, iron, and vitamin C, mulberries are a nutritious staple in my house that I often use in salads, too. I added datesto sweeten the smoothie naturally, thoughif you feel the smoothie is not sweet enough, you can add a little bit of stevia powder.

This Matcha green tea smoothie recipe makes a blended drink that tastes incredible and is extremely healthy and refreshing. Matcha tea powder adds a distinctive green tea flavor, while almond milk and dried fruits make it a sweet and creamy treat. Smoothies are easy to whip up for breakfast, as a post-workout meal, or a nourishing snack anytime of the day. My whole family loves this energizing smoothie and I think you will, too!

Could I use frozen plain yogurt instead of ice cubes? That’s what I usually use instead so my smoothies are not watery.
I appreciate you sharing this, and I plan to try it!
