Taylor Swift welcomed some of the biggest celebrities to her birthday party as the singer celebrated her 34th trip around the sun - but her NFL star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was nowhere to be found.
Not even the powers of the most recognizable woman on the planet could summon her devoted partner to her birthday bash on Wednesday night.
As Swift stepped out in a glorious dress with her confidante Blake Lively to arrive at the venue of her star-studded night, Kelce was conspicuous by his absence.
The Daily Mail published a photograph of Kelce driving his Rolls Royce, while Swift was some 1,200 miles away partying it up in New York City.
But there was a good reason behind it.
Why did Travis Kelce miss Taylor Swift's birthday?
The 34-year-old was stuck at work ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs' next game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, with the team struggling for form after back-to-back defeats.
Kelce, who plays as a tight end for the Chiefs, was required to run through their preparation back in Kansas City and therefore missed out on the party.
There is little doubt that Swift would have been made aware by her new beau that he would not be attending prior to hosting her party. And he is planning to make up for his no-show by planning his own private celebration at some point.
According to a source featured in Us Weekly, Kelce is prepared to spare no expense to make her 34th birthday a memorable occasion by throwing her 'the best party possible'.
The couple were seen leaving Arrowhead Stadium holding hands following the Chiefs' 20-17 defeat to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. They later enjoyed a night out on the town in Kansas City with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany.
Swift has already proved she is happy enough to show up for her man after making her sixth appearance watching the Chiefs this season, with the Bills game the second loss she has witnessed.
