Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers published a new study: #Aftermarket 2030 – The Fleet Imperative” (June 2023). For me, the following are the key points:▶ 1.By 2030 Germany, France, the UK, Netherlands, and Poland will account for a #Fleet Aftermarket of EUR 45 billion (roughly 37% of the total aftermarket). Fleets will have a high electrification rate (48% by 2030). Independent Aftermarket (IAM) players need to have EV-specific products and services if they want to compete in this space. The average fleet passenger car will be only 2.9 years old (by 2030).▶ 2.#Market is expected to consolidate and fleets will be have to deal with lower margins. Parts suppliers and workshops need to provide cost-efficient solutions. Total cost of ownership (TCO) is king.▶ 3.Fleets are expected to be open to #collaborate with the IAM.▶ 4.Passenger car fleet aftermarket for the countries mentioned above projected to be EUR 6.7 billion by 2030, 26% thereof expected to be captured by IAM. Similar share for Light Commercial Vehicles fleet market, which is substantially smaller (EUR 3.4 billion).▶ 5.Medium and #HeavyDuty Truck (MHDT) fleet aftermarket projected to be EUR 29 billion by 2030 (more frequent inspections, more costly repair), 41% thereof expected to be captured by IAM.High BEV share and low average age of vehicles will be a challenge for IAM companies. Levers to get into a favorable position:▶ 1.#ServiceAgreements between fleets and aftermarket players. OEMs may have the better position here since they can bundle sales and service contracts. But IAM players could have interesting TCO offerings. Parts suppliers could work directly with fleets or workshop chains to secure business.▶ 2.Ability to diagnose remotely and to quickly decide on repair vs. scrap as well as inhouse or use of external service #providers (especially for MHDT) will be critical. OEMs may leverage their data access, for some IAM players it will become important to get access to data.▶ 3.Regarding repair and parts logistics both #AuthorizedResellers (AR) as well as IAM have substantial networks. Fleets may favor the AR in the first years of the vehicle life due to warranty reasons.Aftermarkets players who want to be successful in the fleet business should consider collaborating with others to provide a more integrated supply chain.#aftermarket #Corteco #Freudenberg

🤝 How relevant will #fleets be in the future of the European automotive aftermarket? We’ve teamed up with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for a new study that provides a forecast for the fleet market size within the total aftermarket and offers strategic recommendations for market players. Some conclusions of our joint report are that, by 2030: ➡️ More B2B customers will be leveraging arising fleet share of the EU aftermarket ➡️ Fleets will have a significantly higher electrification rate (48%). ➡️ Fleet vehicles will have an average age of ~2.9 years. ➡️ 5 countries alone (Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Poland) will shape a fleet aftermarket worth €45 billion, representing 37% of the total aftermarket. We’re very pleased to announce the release of Deloitte’s 2023 Dealership Benchmarks for the Australian Truck market. 🚌 🚒 🚚 🚛 These benchmarks are a measure of best practice across the truck industry and are based on the performance of the top 30% of truck dealers in the eProfitFocus database. They were created after an all-time record volume year in 2022 where the new truck sales result eclipsed 44,000 units and saw many light, medium and heavy truck dealers setting their own record results in Sales, Service and Parts departments Australia-wide. Our local heavy commercial industry continues to change and adapt to the myriad of consumer needs, ongoing strong demand for great people, rapidly expanding electrification & alternative fuel options and the recent Safer Freight Vehicles announcements – with all of these factors underpinning the ongoing importance of safe, sustainable and profitable truck dealership business. We are always happy to discuss any aspect of these benchmarks, so please feel free to contact myself or any member of the Deloitte Motor Industry Services team below – who I’d like to thank for the many hours of hard work and expertise in creating these benchmarks.https://lnkd.in/eyFNMsRS#Deloitte#DeloitteMIS#DeloitteMotorIndustryServices#DeloitteAutomotive #BenchmarkingLee PetersDale McCauleyAhmed Mahmoud Andrew Moore Danny Rezek Margot JacksonDaniel MorrisLily BurtMadelaine Byrne Harrison Vulcan Abbey Snell Amy O'Neill Alexander Descantes Bronte Hough Emily Carr Eva Fisher Harry Hynes Edwin Hong William Crawford Josh Adams

What is the effect of the Red Sea disruptions on the automotive industry? 🚗🚙The automotive industry, mostly among electric vehicles, was one of the first to feel the disruptions caused by shipping through the Red Sea.The reported earnings from this season, however, indicate that the impact on automotive supply chains may not be as significant as initially feared. The industry mainly experienced delays in part deliveries and an impact on their warehouse inventory. Yet, their operations did not seem to be greatly disturbed. In their blog, Supply Chain Brain discusses the reaction of car makers on the Red Sea disruptions: https://lnkd.in/eCGHguQZ#automotive #shipping #freightforwarding #warehousing #logistics

Bogus Supplier of Jet-Engine Parts May Have Faked Employees Too: Siddharth Vikram Philip, Sabah Meddings, and Supriya Singh, reporting for Bloomberg News: As chief commercial officer of aircraft-parts supplier AOG Technics, Ray Kwong can look back on a well-rounded career at A-list companies including All Nippon Airways, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Nissan Motor. That, at least, is Kwong's two-decade corporate journey on what appears to be his LinkedIn profile, from which the self-proclaimed executive beams with a broad smile and striped tie in blue hues. Trouble is that -- much like the company for which Kwong now claims to work -- not all is as it seems. Kwong, if he even exists, was never employed at Nissan, or at ANA for that matter. Neither company has records of him as a former worker, they said in response to queries by Bloomberg News. His employment history could also not be verified at Mitsubishi. What is used as his profile picture turns out to be a stock photo that's also washed up elsewhere on the Internet, from promotional material for a German textile startup to a clinic in Northbrook, Illinois. After Bloomberg reported on the case of bogus jet-engine repair parts being investigated by regulators, a deeper dive into AOG revealed that the fabrication not only concerned components, but extended to major aspects of the company behind the scandal. The proliferation of undocumented parts has sent shock waves through an industry where every component requires verification to ensure aircraft safety, leaving manufacturers, operators and authorities scrambling to determine the fallout. The parts supplied by AOG went into engines that power many older-generation Airbus SE A320 and Boeing 737 planes, by far the most widely flown category of commercial aircraft. These single-aisle jets are used by millions of passengers each day and by most airlines, mainly on short-haul flights. Airbus said it's aware of media reports surrounding AOG, while Boeing said it will defer to regulators on the topic.Read more of this story at Slashdot.
