After Y/N’s snack the two cuddled up on the sofa so she could nap. Severus sat with his book while Y/N fell asleep on his lap within minutes. After a couple of hours, he gently woke up Y/N, stroking her beautiful face. “I miss you,” he said softly, trying to wake her up. “I’m right here,’ she said sleepily as she woke up.
Y/N sat up on the sofa, stretching looking half confused. “I feel like I time traveled. I closed my eyes and here we are again,” she said as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
“I’ll make us some lunch,” Severus announced as he was finally able to get up from the sofa.
“Do you want me to come get in your way? It will be good practice for the girls,” she giggled back to him as he walked to the kitchen.
“Absolutely not. I need to put one of those half doors on the kitchen to keep all 3 of you out while I cook,” he replied looking back at her.
“I love that you think that would keep them up. My children will just crawl over the door in the most dangerous fashion. That’s exactly how I did everything. I climbed everywhere, up every surface until I got what I wanted,” she said as she followed him into the kitchen.
Severus looked back at her shaking his head, “That doesn’t surprise me at all, honestly. Perhaps one of them will be quiet and calm like myself,” he said as he pulled ingredients from the fridge.
“Her sister's keeper. She won’t take the lead but she will do what her sister tells her. They will be very good at keeping secrets as well. These are all the feelings I am getting already,” Y/N said as she leaned against the counter. “You have yet to tell me any good news,” the man replied with a chuckle.
“Have you thought of names? Right now I’m stuck on Stevie and Sylvie. Stevie is the whimsical one like myself, Sylvie is the stoic one, like her father,” Y/N announced. “Have you decided on these already? A feeling you have?” he asked curiously.
“Just the names I keep coming back to. I don’t know, they sound right. We still have time to decide. Of course, it is up to whoever makes the most correct guesses at the sorting ceremony,” she replied.
“Stevie for Stevie Nicks I assume.. Sylvie for Sylvia Plath, I suppose?” he asked curiously. “Indeed. I know the Sylvie part is odd, since Plath actually um ended herself. But honestly, the most beautiful words I have ever read have come from her. ‘Is there no way out of the mind? (Quote by Sylvia Plath). I connect with her words,” Y/N responded.
“Alice and Charlotte, for wonderland and Bronte of course,” Severus replied as he made their lunch. “Oh I love those as well. Charlotte would become Charlie for short. Stevie and Charlie, that sounds right,” Y/N smiled over at him.
“How will you decide which baby is Stevie and which is Charlie?” Severus asked as he took their plates over to the table.
“Well eventually they will move into their final positions. Nettie said most likely, one on top and one lower. I will figure out their personalities from there and name them. Thank you, by the way,” she replied as she sat down for lunch.
“You will figure out personalities based on how they act, inside you?” he asked curiously as he sat in his own chair.
“Absolutely. The active one is Stevie for sure. Wait. We can't do this yet. We have to wait for the sorting ceremony. We are getting ahead of ourselves,” she giggled.
“Oh. I thought we had just agreed,” Severus chuckled softly. “Nothing is set in stone. I still want to beat you at the sorting ceremony,” Y/N replied smugly. “Perhaps we could make the bet for something else,” he offered with a smirk.
“It doesn’t matter. You won’t win. My picks were too good,” she replied with a smile. “Well, we shall see won’t we,” he replied softly.
“Do you want to hear a funny story I was thinking about? The girls reminded me. I don’t remember this but my mother told me. She said shortly after I started walking, around 1. I pushed a package that was delivered to the front door. I climbed on top of it and started unlocking the front door locks.
I must have seen her unlocking them and I was going to do it myself to go outside. My mother said she stood back and watched to see how far I would get. I had the door fully unlocked and I got down, moving the package out of the way. I got out onto the front steps before she stopped me. My mother had to enchant the front door after that. That’s what you have to look forward to,” Y/N said with a cheeky grin.
“None of this is reassuring to me. I suppose that is the point you are trying to make. We need to find a nanny, someone to help us when the girls get here. Someone will have to take care of them while you are in classes,” he replied softly.
“I know. It’s hard to trust someone. I was sort of considering Gloria. I know she works in the kitchen but she is already there at the castle. She’s told me before that she worked for a woman who had a lot of babies. A lot of babies are cared for by elves in magical families as you know,” Y/N announced.
“You would trust an elf to watch two possibly gifted babies?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. “Not just any elf, Gloria. She is special and I do trust her actually. I think wizards downplay the abilities of elves as lesser than themselves but it’s not true. She has abilities just as a wizard, but without the wand,” Y/N replied.
Severus made a hmm sound before replying, “Possibly. You are right though, she is quite gifted. I will think about that. I know Pansy wasn’t to come help when they are born,” he sighed. “Yes, she will be helpful, I promise. She is great at taking care of people,” Y/N chuckled.
The man made a hmm sound, “She will attempt to take over,” he replied. “No she won’t. She will just help, I promise. I’ll talk to her. She will be there to help hold babies while I recover, changing diapers, cooking. That sort of thing. You know, the things my mother is supposed to do after I have a baby,” she sighed.
“I assume you don’t want your mother there at all,” he replied hesitantly. “You know me so well,” she giggled. “Will you allow her to see the girls at all? Your father?” he asked softly.
“I don’t know. Honestly, my father yes if he wanted. You can tell how involved he is in my life though. Right now, I don’t trust her. If she ever raised a hand to my children, I would have to deal with her, rather unfairly. I don’t trust her, not even a little bit,” Y/N replied blankly.
Severus just smiled to himself as he ate his lunch. “I love them already, more than myself or even you if I’m honest,” Y/N confessed. “I feel the same way, Princess. They are number one,” he replied.
